Albert P. Behler
Mr. Behler has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Paramount since October 1991. Since joining Paramount, Mr. Behler has overseen all of the acquisitions and dispositions that produced Paramount’s current portfolio of assets. In 1973, Mr. Behler joined Thyssen Handelsunion AG and he spent the early part of his career in Thyssen entities, where he held with them numerous leadership positions at Thyssen in the Middle East, including President of Thyssen Saudia, Ltd. In 1985, Mr. Behler came to the United States as President of Thyssen Rheinstahl in Atlanta, Georgia. In his positions with the Thyssen entities, Mr. Behler was responsible for, among other duties, the acquisition, financing, development and disposition of more than ten million square feet of commercial real estate in various countries before joining Paramount.
Mr. Behler studied law and economics in Germany and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University, Atlanta.
His board and association memberships, past and present, include serving as Co-Founder and former Member of the Board of Summit Bank Corporation, Atlanta; Chairman Emeritus and former Executive Board Member of the Association of Foreign Investors in U.S. Real Estate (AFIRE), Washington, D.C.; Director of the Realty Foundation of New York; former Member of the Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee of the Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; Member of the Real Estate Roundtable (RER), Washington, D.C.; Member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY); Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI); Member of the American Council on Germany's Business Advisory Committee; Member of the Board of Citymeals-on-Wheels; Member of the Board of Trustees at The Arthur F. Burns Fellowship; Former Member of the Executive Committee of Greenprint Foundation.
