James R. Wacht

James Wacht is president of Lee & Associates NYC (Lee NYC). Lee NYC was formed in 2011 as a merger with Sierra Real Estate (Sierra), a residential and commercial real estate company where he served as president since 2000. Mr. Wacht joined Sierra Real Estate in 1989 as its in-house counsel. During his tenure at Sierra he engineered the company from a small real estate management firm to a full-service real estate company. Prior to joining Sierra, Mr. Wacht was a practicing real estate attorney with the law firm of Bachner, Tally, Misher, Brinberg & Polevoy, He has been active in the real estate industry in New York for over 30 years and In 2010, his achievements were recognized by Real Estate Weekly when he was named one of its Industry Leaders. His activity and commitment to philanthropic and civic causes is equally strong as his professional accomplishments. Mr. Wacht serves on numerous boards, including: the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of The Community Housing Improvement Program, an advocacy organization of owners of rent-regulated housing; the Board of Housing New York PAC, a political action committee formed to support local elected officials who favor sensible housing legislation; the Chairperson of the New York Council for The Appleseed Foundation, a not-for-profit organization comprising 16 justice centers in the United States and Mexico; the Board of Directors of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, where he is spearheading efforts to establish music programs in public schools throughout the South Bronx and other under-served New York City communities; and the Board of Directors of the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. He lectures regularly at The Stephen L. Newman Real Estate Institute of Baruch College and the National Real Estate Conference, and is a highly published commentator on the real estate industry. Mr. Wacht holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Juris Doctorate from the Boston University School of Law. He resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with his wife and two children.
